The nature vs nurture, or free will vs determinism debate

Father Brown Episode 4
Church Secretary Bridget McCarthy : A month in prison has once again failed to reform that woman.
Father Brown: Well, Annie’s life has not been blessed with opportunity.
It’s hardly an excuse for… bad manners.
Lady Felicia Montague: Of course not, but it does explain her prostitution.
How about, properly mannered people’s lives improperly presume true virtue.
More programme notes in the comments as I like each point to have its own box and for the home page not to be cluttered with them.
Father Brown sitting by the road: I want to sell you a painting, one of mine. St Michael.
Guy in cart: An inspiration.
FB: Indeed. None of us are holy. And we all have battles to face.
Holiness is what we mortals must strive for, Father.
FB: Many of the saints lived scandalous lives. It was only when they were most burdened that they found the grace to turn their lives around. You must be very lonely… perhaps you sought company with Annie…
The guy gets out of the cart and goes to the phone booth to comply with the inspector’s directive that if Fr Brown puts pressure on people for clues that he should call. Fr Brown first asks him not to, then acknowledges his prying. Not as cozy a relationship as Sydney in Grantchester enjoys.
Now Father Brown to the perpetrator: You are a [man or woman] with free will. You are responsible for your actions.
The last scene regarding heinous enemies is nicely done.
Wait, would the German Catholic Church ordain a Nazi combatant/murderer (I forgot why he killed the guy’s family) after the war? I don’t want to agree with this accusation without more knowledge. I have heard though of some association with the German Catholic Church and naziism.
Tangent: Do you find that commenting on your own posts and then commenting on comments helps to organize your thoughts? I’m looking for an alternative to notes-on-scraps piled on my cluttered desk.
Yes. Thanks for not taking it in a solely narcissistic way.
Also, thoughts come to me slowly and so I like to add them directly to the relevant post. I think the comments section is better than addendums or P.S’s elsewhere with bothersome links.
Have you ever tried OneNote? It comes bundled with MS Office. If so, what is your opinion?
I haven’t looked at it or any other private journaling software.
