Turning point

I disagree with this article: Why the Gay Marriage Debate Was Over in 1950. Seems to me that recent gay marriage laws are because of the Civil War. I think proper people were disillusioned about religion after so much death and destruction. It was a Pyrrhic victory for the north. Then came the Gay Nineties (pun convenient).

The Gay Nineties is an American nostalgic term referring to the decade of the 1890s. It is known in the United Kingdom as the Naughty Nineties, and refers there to the decade of supposedly decadent art by Aubrey Beardsley, the witty plays and trial of Oscar Wilde, society scandals and the beginning of the suffragette movement.”

This was followed by the more widespread roaring 20’s. The depression and WWII curbed it for a while, then decadent dissolution returned. Perhaps modern psychotherapy came about because of the insanity of the times.
