The Video of Metropolitan Jonah’s Revolutionary Speech Sunday Night

Posted in Father Seraphim Rose, Metropolitan JONAH, Orthodoxy, St. Herman of Alaska, St. John of San Francisco at 7:38 am by Andrea Elizabeth

Is American Orthodoxy legitimate or not? It’s time to be adults and show the East that we can take care of ourselves, hopefully with their prayers.

Leave the American Orthodox Church alone (the video). Or as we say here in Texas, don’t mess with us. Remember Alaska!

Saints of North America: Herman, Innocent, Peter the Aleut, Tikhon, Raphael, John of San Francisco, and Blessed Seraphim Rose, pray for us!

anaxios. met. jonah’s words were immature, uniformed and insulting. he isn’t going to get anywhere.

  2. The words do strike me a little bit as reactionary, but I find that the Ecumenical Patriarch’s preceding words were more offensive, denying the canonicity of the OCA, which the GOA doesn’t, which he also insults. That may be too “he started it!”, and I’m getting somewhat more passivist/ turn the other cheek, but my Texan/American lineage got brought out with this one.

Actually, the GOA recognizes our Orthodoxy, and thus will commune with us, as will the EP himself in any OCA church (were the opportunity to present itself), but a hierarchical liturgy in a GOA parish where the diptichs are read will not include our Metropolitan.

Anybody feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here.

  4. I’m surprised to hear that the EP would commune in an OCA parish. Where would he place the source of our Orthodoxy? The Moscow Patriarchate before we were granted autocephaly?

    That is my understanding, yes.
